With the temperature rising and the party season upon us, don’t forget to drink your 2 litres of water, plus 1 litre per hour of exercise and an extra glass for every coffee or tea you have. Drinking water by the glass full will help your body flush and eliminate toxins.
Temptation is everywhere. We only celebrate Christmas once a year, so don’t deprive yourself of good food, just keep your portions under control. Remember that a serving of meat/protein is the size of your palm, not your dinner plate. Fill the rest of your dinner plate with loads of salad and vegetables and your body will thank you for it.
Have you got work parties coming up? A good option is to eat a good meal before you go out (if a sit down meal is not on the cards). This will help you resist those moreish, nutrient lacking, vegetable oil laden party foods that go down a treat, the more beverages you drink!!
Alcohol, included pre-mixes act like a diuretic and are responsible for that pounding head in the morning, so don’t forget to drink a glass of water between each drink. This might actually mean you don’t drink as much alcohol either!!! Your liver is already celebrating!
Sticking to your exercise regime will keep you in good stead. It may be the only ‘normal’ in your day over the festive season!
When hitting the shops doing that last minute crazy Christmas shopping, make sure you pack some healthy snacks in your handbag, so to avoid eating or indulging in foods that aren’t on your radar, even if it is the season! Indulge yourself with something new, not food.
If you deviate from your health path, you are very normal! Just make sure your new TODAY is not about yesterday. There is no room for guilt, don’t dwell on it, move on.
